Robert W. Albrecht, CPA, is a director/shareholder in the firm of Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman. He has more than 25 years' experience in auditing and consulting for nonprofit organizations. Mr. Albrecht's expertise includes structuring of nonprofit organizations, internal control evaluation, government compliance auditing and management consulting. He is a specialist in A-133 compliance for private voluntary organizations receiving funding through U.S. Government agencies.
As engagement partner for many of the firm’s nonprofit organizations with international operations, he travels to field offices and works with local audit firms in more than 30 different countries. Mr. Albrecht has traveled to all parts of the world on behalf of the firm’s PVO clients to perform audit work and review local field office internal controls, as well as compliance with headquarters’ policies and procedures.
Mr. Albrecht presents seminars on specific aspects of nonprofit auditing including the Sarbanes-Oxley impact on nonprofit organizations, FASBs 116 and 117 reporting, the IRS rules on lobbying expenses, strategic planning, structuring foreign NGOs, managing federal funds administered in foreign countries, and OMB Circular A-133 requirements for association and CPA groups. In 2008, he received the SmartCPA award given by SmartCEO magazine.
