Jennifer Smith has more than 17 years of expertise in preparing audited, reviewed, and compiled financial statements in the nonprofit, government contracting, construction, manufacturing, medical and real estate industries. She also has extensive experience providing accounting, tax, and consulting services for a variety of corporate clients. Since joining Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman, Ms. Smith has concentrated her skills on auditing and internal control review for a wide range of nonprofit organizations. In addition, she travels overseas to audit field offices for our nonprofit clients with locations around the world. 

As a senior audit manager, Ms. Smith has day-to-day responsibility for managing the audit team during engagements. Her responsibilities include planning, supervising, controlling budgets, identifying, researching and resolving accounting and auditing issues encountered on an engagement.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.  She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.  She is also the Treasurer of the C&O Canal Trust, Inc.
