TIGTA Warns of “Largest Ever” Phone Fraud Scam Targeting Taxpayers

The Treasury Inspector General for Taxpayer Administration released a press release on Thursday, March 20, 2014 warning taxpayers to beware of phone calls from individuals claiming to represent the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in an effort to defraud them. This represents, in the words of TIGTA, the “largest ever” phone fraud scam ever seen.
