Event type:  Seminar
Date:  March 18, 2014
Time:  9:30 am-12:00 pm

The Foundation Center – Washington, DC
1627 K Street, NW, 3rd Floor
Washington, DC 20006-1708

Learn the legal and accounting issues that nonprofits are required to address during initial stages of the start-up process.

Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman Client Services Director Ian Shuman will join Tax-Exempt Solutions Principal Benjamin Takis to review why, when starting a new charitable organization, you’ll need more than just a great idea and a dedicated group of people willing to work hard. There is a great deal of legal and accounting preparation required before you are ready to operate as a nonprofit organization.

Register for a program that focuses on the often complicated legal and accounting issues that all nonprofits are required to address during the initial stages of their start-up process. Participants will learn the basics of accounting challenges unique to nonprofits, incorporation, securing your 501(c)(3) status, maintaining “public charity” status, state-law registration issues, and more. This program will guide attendees toward the essential resources and knowledge needed to be prepared for running a new organization while avoiding the most common pitfalls along the way.
