2017 has already proven to be a remarkable, yet uncertain year for the non-profit industry. With the change in Administration and proposed cuts to many Agency budgets, organizations are struggling to maintain current funding levels and identify creative ways to generate new revenue to fill the gap. GRF partners Jennifer Arminger and Robert Albrecht begin a quarterly seminar series for nonprofit audit and accounting professionals.

Shifting revenue streams is one of the many trends that we will see develop over the next year with significant implications for the future. The increase in foreign government funding as well as the expanding use of Donor Advised Funds mean that organizations must also become more proactive when it comes accounting and reporting practices that address new requirements. On the technology front, nonprofit leaders are being confronted with new fishing email scams targeting nonprofits and their donors, as well as the ongoing challenge of engaging Millennials through social media and other creative digital means.
