Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman, CPAs has been helping non profit organizations comply with regulatory obligations, improve fiscal health and streamline operations through innovative and practical audit, tax and outsourced accounting services since 1981.
We currently serve over 550 tax-exempt organizations in the Washington, DC metropolitan region as well as nationwide. The nonprofit sector comprises nearly 100% of the firm’s total audit business. Our Management and staff are trained and experienced with auditing non profits and are familiar with the unique structure and operations of tax-exempt entities. Several of our CPAs have also held leadership positions in nonprofits throughout their careers.
The cornerstones of our practice are strict attention to technical excellence, accuracy and proactive personal involvement. We have achieved a leadership role within the non profit community through our affiliations with organizations like the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, American Society of Association Executives, Maryland Society of Association Executives, Maryland Association of Non profit Organizations, Non profit Roundtable of Greater Washington, Finance & Administration Roundtable and InsideNGO.
Our clients benefit from the efficiency of a single-office firm with over 90 people, including Partners, Principals and Staff Accountants supported by paraprofessional and administrative personnel. GRF has over 70 professionals devoting 100% of their time to the non profit sector. This single industry focus offers our clients valuable insights and reduces the need for auditor education.
In addition to our audit work in the US, our Partners and staff perform on-site audits of foreign Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and foreign offices of US-based NGOs throughout the world. In particular, we understand the accounting and internal control issues and complexities of maintaining operations where funds are distributed through entities outside the United States. Our field office activity covers Africa, Europe, Eastern and Central Asia, and Central and South America, and frequently requires travel to developing countries.
