Stephen J. Kelin, CPA, JD and Richard J. Locastro, CPA, JD, nonprofit tax principals with Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman will present at the American Society of Association Executives’ 2012 Finance, Human Resources and Business Operations Conference on Thursday, June 7 on the topic of examining the layers of lobbying tax regulations. Their presentation, from 11:45 am to 1 pm, will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW in Washington, DC.

Mr. Kelin and Mr. Locastro, who have nearly 60 years of combined experience working on nonprofit tax-related issues, will lead their presentation for associations that participate in the political and public policy arena, and who need guidance on filing requirements for the Lobbying Disclosure Act and IRS Forms 990 and 1120-POL. 501(c)(6) associations with 501(c)(3) affiliates are most likely to benefit.

Participants will gain an improved understanding of the difference between lobbying and political activities and their respective reporting requirements, gain insight into when advocacy turns into lobbying and where different association activities should be listed on each filing form. They will also learn how the Lobbying Disclosure Act affects the association’s operations.

Conference registration is still available.
