Senior Audit Manager Jennifer Smith CPA, CFE and Audit Manager Walt Derengowski CPA, CFE have completed the necessary requirements to be certified fraud examiners by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. ACFE is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization; those who receive the CFE certification are recognized as experts in the field.
Ms. Smith has more than 17 years of expertise in preparing audited, reviewed, and compiled financial statements in the nonprofit, government contracting, construction, manufacturing, medical and real estate industries. She received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is also a Certified Quick Books Professional Advisor.
Mr. Derengowski has been with Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman for more than nine years. He performs and reviews staff fieldwork on major audits including compliance with OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A- 133. He identifies risk areas, validates financial statements and reviews field office compliance with headquarters’ policies and procedures for nonprofits with international operations. Mr. Derengowski earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at the University of Maryland.
