GRF Celebrates 45 Years of Advancing Talent, Clients & Communities

Bethesda, MD — March 9, 2026 GRF CPAs & Advisors (GRF), a leading independent accounting and advisory firm, proudly celebrates its 45th anniversary, marking more than four decades of service rooted in integrity, expertise, and a deep commitment to clients and community.

GRF was built on a clear mission: to deliver thoughtful, high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services while building enduring relationships grounded in trust. Formed in 1981 by the merger of the practices of Michael C. Gelman and Jerrold Rosenberg, the firm expanded in 1988 through merger with Michael A. Freedman and officially became Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman, A Professional Corporation. Today, GRF employs over 200 staff and more than 70 licensed CPAs, including 40 partners and principals as well as managers, staff accountants, and operations personnel. Over the years, the firm has evolved in size, services, and impact, while remaining steadfast in its values and its decision to operate as an independent firm.

The Grf Cpas & Advisors History

“Our longevity is a direct result of staying true to who we are,” said President and Managing Partner, Jackie Cardello, CPA. “GRF has intentionally chosen independence so we can put our clients first, invest in our people, and remain accountable to the communities we serve.”

Today, GRF supports a diverse client base that includes nonprofit organizations, government contractors, middle-market businesses, and individuals and families. The firm is particularly recognized for its long-standing work with nonprofit organizations, helping mission-driven entities strengthen financial stewardship, governance, and long-term sustainability.

Community engagement is central to GRF’s identity. Team members actively serve on nonprofit boards, volunteer their time and expertise, and support organizations that address critical needs across the region. This hands-on involvement informs the firm’s work and reinforces its belief that strong organizations build stronger communities.

“As advisors, we don’t just work in the community — we’re part of it,” said Trevor Williams, CPA, Partner and Director, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. “Board service, volunteering, and nonprofit partnerships are not side efforts; they’re an extension of our values.”

As GRF looks ahead, the firm remains focused on its vision for the future: evolving alongside clients, embracing innovation, and developing the next generation of leaders — all while preserving the culture, independence, and client-centric approach that have defined the firm for 45 years.

“Our future is about thoughtful growth, lasting relationships, and continued impact,” added Ms. Cardello. “The next chapter builds on the same foundation that has guided us since day one.”
