Compliance

We ensure that nonprofits, government contractors and other organizations who are receiving U.S. and foreign government funds meet the required standards for the use of those funds.

Maintaining Compliance Doesn’t Have to be a Headache

If your organization receives federal money from the United States or other foreign governments, it is imperative that those funds are used and accounted for according to specific rules and regulations. For most organizations, making sense of complex funding agreements can be challenging. Fortunately, GRF’s compliance experts understand the details of the cost principles and specific compliance requirements, helping organizations abide by them.

Compliance for Nonprofit Organizations

We are knowledgeable in all types of compliance requirements that nonprofit organizations face, including:

Uniform Guidance (Title 2 CFR 200) audits

Nonprofits that expend in excess of $750,000 in federal awards in a given fiscal year are required to conduct a Uniform Guidance audit (also known as a “single audit” and formerly known as the “A-133 audit”). This includes:

  • Financial statement audit
  • In relation opinion on the schedule of expenditures of federal awards (SEFA)
  • Report on internal control over financial reporting and on compliance and other matters
  • Report on compliance for each major program and report on internal control over compliance

Audits of US government pass-through funding

Clients benefit from our expertise in auditing grants and our familiarity with the requirements for the pass-through of monies, including the flow down of similar compliance requirements. We help our clients and grantees strengthen their internal controls and, as needed, establish accounting policies and procedures to ensure grantees fully comply with program requirements and regulations governing the pass-through of funds.
