With the unusual prospect of a government shutdown growing increasingly likely, we wish to remind you that the April 18 tax filing deadline will remain in place. Speaking recently at the National Press Club, IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman explained that those who file their taxes electronically should experience no delays in receiving refunds. Those who file their taxes via paper-based returns, however, may experience delays.
The IRS has also suggested that customer service for questions regarding taxes may be delayed.
