Enterprise Risk Management for Nonprofits & Associations: Where Strategy Meets Risk

GRF Risk & Advisory Services experts Melissa Musser, Andreas A. Alexandrou and Mark Tessar will be presenting on Enterprise Risk Management to Nonprofit New York on March 31, 2020.

This session is focused the fundamental elements of effective Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and emerging risk for 2020. Our speakers will provide an overview of enterprise risk management from the angle of merging the financial, operational, IT and insurance risk management functions. Rather than treating risk in silos, we support the notion of integrating enterprise risk management in a holistic manner that brings disparate viewpoints to the table to affect the most comprehensive risk management for the benefit of the organization. With increasing demands on executives’ time and bandwidth, the approach offered in this session will promote a streamlined enterprise risk management philosophy. With organizational risk addressed, empowered leaders are equipped to focus on mission and impact, and establish more far-reaching goals for the years to come.

Key Takeaways:

  • Participants will come away with a better understanding of the risks emerging in the nonprofit industry, where many organizations are vulnerable and how to create a risk aware culture.
  • Participants will also learn how they can assess risk to their organization and develop a practical response.
  • Finally, participants will come away with a better understanding of the organizational benefits of ERM. Nonprofit leaders will have the background knowledge they need to get the buy-in needed from their audit committee and/or board of directors, and leverage an ERM program as part of their strategic plan.
